Global Trade Classification Analyst

Ciena is seeking a Global Trade Classification Analyst to support the Global Trade Team’s accurate, consistent, and defensible classification of Ciena products, software, technology, and components. This role plays a critical function in supporting Ciena’s general import and export operations by ensuring tariff classifications, export control classifications (ECCNs) are performed in accordance with applicable U.S. and International trade regulations.

The position demands a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory information.



The Global Trade Classification Analyst supports both ongoing operations and new product introductions, helping ensure that Ciena’s global trade activities remain compliant, efficient, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities

Classification & Regulatory Analysis

Perform and maintain tariff classifications (Harmonized Tariff Schedule - HTS), export control classifications (ECCNs), and technology classifications for products, components, software, and related technology
Review technical documentation, engineering specifications, and product functionality to support defensible classification determinations
Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and international trade regulations.

Record classification rationales and maintain audit-ready records to support internal governance, regulatory inquiries, and external audits

Systems, Data & Governance

Maintain and enhance classification data in trade compliance systems (e.g., Oracle GTM or similar)...
