What are we looking for?
We are searching for a qualified, professional, and dependable Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing for and assisting with patient encounters, ensuring all clinical information is accurate and handled with care.
This is a full-time, remote position with a schedule of Mondays through Fridays, 9am to 5pm EST and eventually transition to 9am-7pm EST (4 days, 10 hour shifts) after training.
I. Clinical Support & Patient Care
The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing for and assisting with patient encounters, ensuring all clinical information is accurate and handled with care.
- Patient Chart Preparation: Proactively prepare and pre-assess patient charts before their scheduled appointment, utilizing the correct EMR template for each visit type (e.g., audio, video, follow-up).
- Information Verification: Verify and accurately update patient information at every visit, including date of birth, address, preferred pharmacy, and current medication list.
- Medical Scribing: Accurately and precisely document the patient encounter in real-time as a scribe, capturing the provider's assessment and plan to avoid delays and discrepancies.
- Encounter Review:
Double-check all visit encounters and associated referrals for completeness and accuracy before finalizing.
- Patient Education: Provide patients with clear information and education as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Patient Rapport & Privacy: Establish a cordial and professional rapport with patients. Strictly protect patient privacy and confidentiality (in accordance with HIPAA) at all times.
II. Administrative & Scheduling Duties
The Medical Assistant will manage patient flow and perform key clerical tasks to support the practice.
- Appointment Management: Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments via phone and other communication methods.
- Patient Communication: Serve as a point of contact for patient inquiries, providing timely updates and information regarding their care, requests, and appointment details.
- Patient Intake: Manage patient check-in for providers, ensuring a smooth and timely start to appointments.
- Record Maintenance: Perform data entry and other clerical tasks as needed, including the processing and maintenance of electronic medical records (EMR).
III. Communication & Team Collaboration
Effective and professional communication is essential to this role.
- Internal Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication with providers and team leads, escalating questions or concerns to the appropriate party.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with all team members, including the intake department, to coordinate patient care, such as confirming follow-up appointments.
- Workflow Optimization: Actively work to optimize the patient experience and maintain the timeliness of appointments by communicating effectively with both patients and providers.
IV. Professionalism & Development
The Medical Assistant is expected to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Punctuality & Reliability: Be punctual for all shifts and call patients at their scheduled times. Maintain a reliable internet connection for remote work and avoid call-outs whenever possible.
- Protocol Adherence: Comply with all established company protocols and workflows.
- Performance: Efficiently manage time to complete all scheduled patient encounters within the designated shift. Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accountability for the quality of work.
- Team Support & Training:
Act as a resource for new team members, providing shadowing opportunities and training on charting protocols and procedures.
- Professional Conduct: Maintain a positive, energetic, and professional demeanor. Exhibit exceptional customer service skills and the flexibility to adapt to a rapidly growing and changing work environment. Must be professional, punctual, reliable and accountable for quality of their work; be warm, kind and friendly yet efficient and comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
REQUIREMENTS
- Fluent in conversational English/Spanish
- A quiet environment to work out of, the position is %90 patient facing and requires a clear internet connection, webcam, and microphone.
- Internet speed and backup 100mb minimum download.
- Experience with EMR preferred
- Medical Background Required (eg Nurses, physicians, pharmacists, Etc)
- Positive and energetic personality/ excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone and in written communications
- Flexibility in a rapidly growing and changing work environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Experience working with racially and ethnically diverse populations
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office products like Microsoft Teams, Outlook
Job Type: Fulltime Permanent Work From Home
Pay: $4-$7/hr
Working Hours: (40hrs a week)
