Role and Company Overview:

Our partner operates in the healthcare industry, building software systems that help hospitals and assisted living facilities run more efficiently. Based in San Clemente, California, they’re a growing healthcare tech startup actively building and shipping products into customers’ hands.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll take full ownership of AI-powered features—from architecture through production. No hand-holding. Real ownership and meaningful impact in an important space.

Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend and/or full-stack systems
- Develop and deploy LLM-integrated features with production-grade reliability
- Own features end-to-end — architecture, deployment, and monitoring
- Implement evaluation frameworks, error handling, and graceful degradation for AI systems




- Work with AWS infrastructure to support secure, scalable applications
- Ensure systems meet compliance standards (HIPAA, SOC 2)
- Collaborate cross-functionally to translate product requirements into technical solutions
- Support the team occasionally with customer-facing technical explanations

Requirements:
- Strong backend or full-stack engineering experience
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and a backend framework such as Spring Boot (or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience deploying and monitoring applications in AWS production environments
- Proven experience shipping LLM or AI-integrated features into production
- Deep understanding of AI failure modes, evaluation strategies, and system reliability
- Proven ability to take end-to-end ownership and proactively drive solutions

- Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries
