Backend Software Engineer (Mid-level)

- Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina with 2 days/week on-site in Núñez
- Compensation: $2,200 – $3,200 USD/month
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM UTC-3 (40 hours/week)

About the Role

You join a 13-person engineering team leading a year-long platform migration. You migrate features from a TypeScript monolith (AdonisJS) to a service-oriented architecture on AWS, working in sprints alongside the team. This is an execution role: you design, build, and solve concrete problems while maintaining code quality. This role fits someone who wants hands-on ownership of backend systems and enjoys the challenge of modernizing production platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Migrate features from the monolithic platform to a service-oriented architecture on AWS.
- Design and build APIs and microservices using event-driven patterns (SNS, SQS, EventBridge).
- Deliver solutions sprint by sprint as the team prioritizes them.
- Participate in daily standups and weekly planning with the engineering team.
- Identify and resolve complex problems while maintaining code quality standards.
- Apply Domain Driven Design principles to build secure, reusable APIs.

Who You Are

- You have at least 2 years of backend development experience with TypeScript and Go.
- You have solid experience with AWS, microservices architectures, and event-driven systems (SNS, SQS, EventBridge).
- You design and build REST APIs securely, applying DDD principles,



ideally with TypeScript frameworks like AdonisJS.
- You are comfortable with relational databases, unit testing, and test-driven development.
- You work well in agile environments (Scrum, Sprints) and communicate in functional English.
- You live in Buenos Aires or nearby and can attend the office 2 days per week.

Bonus Points

- Portuguese language skills (part of the team works in Portuguese).
- Experience migrating or modernizing production platforms.
- Experience with non-relational databases.
- Familiarity with other backend frameworks or languages.
- Formal education or degree in systems engineering or related field.

What Success Looks Like

First 90 Days

- You are integrated into the team and delivering feature migrations with tested code and clean APIs.
- You understand the monolithic codebase and the target service architecture.
- You participate actively in sprints and contribute to technical decisions.

Ongoing
- You are a reliable backend contributor who unblocks the team and maintains code quality.
- You help the migration advance on schedule with minimal rework.
- You mentor newer team members and share knowledge about the platform architecture.
