Job Summary
Banfield Pet Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to provide critical support in our hospitals. The assistant will work closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to deliver quality care, educate clients on pet wellness, and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pets, clients, and the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care, monitoring, and procedures as allowed by state laws
- Maintain patient flow and support veterinarians and technicians with daily tasks
- Safely restrain pets for exams and procedures
- Set up and clean exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Educate clients on preventive care and promote Optimum Wellness Plans
- Collect patient histories and maintain accurate medical records
- Provide exceptional client service and ensure pet comfort at all times
- Mentor and support new team members as needed
- Comply with all hospital safety protocols and procedures

Qualifications
• Certificate from a NAVTA‑approved Veterinary Assistant program is preferred,



or equivalent training and experience.• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.• At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary, animal care, or customer service role is desirable.• Must be at least 18 years old.
Skills & Competencies
- Action‑oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent communication, listening, and client service skills
- Comfortable working around a variety of animals
- Basic computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office and veterinary software is a plus
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
