Job
Summary:
Operations Manager
is responsible for
driving the continuous improvement of our processes and systems in the production and logistic departments of South America in support of strategic
objectives
. This role provides leadership,
direction,
and hands-on involvement while managing personnel and processes in areas of responsibility. This strategic team member will have direct management of T&O;
organization includes
warehousing,
distribution
and transportation, while being accountable for the Production factories via management of the
Operation
.
Essential
Responsibilities
:
Develop an understanding of the
on-going
business strategy and
takes
a proactive role in collaborating with other departments; collaborates and influences department leaders to ensure coordination of production, quality
control
and logistic functions.
Establishes quantitative metrics consistent with optimization of cost, quality, technology,
service
and delivery.
Works on complex functional areas and corporate level issues requiring detailed analysis and knowledge of production and
logistics
best practices and tools.




Ensures all production and logistic procedures and policies meet regulatory and compliance guidelines in collaboration with QHSE.
Identifies
and implements best in class technology/infrastructure suitable to the scope and size of the business along with disciplines that underlie production and
logistics
Develops regional best practices
regarding
systems such as integration and optimization, inventory control, delivery and demand planning and implementing.
Drives process improvements to achieve strategy goals for safety, quality and cost
utilizing
Kaizen events, Lean and Six Sigma.
Provides input and recommendations for the identification and
selection
of improvement projects
Establishes and meets project quality,
delivery
and cost
objectives
.
Monitors departmental budgets and
assists
in defining annual operating and capital budgets – has budgetary approval responsibility.
Designs the regional strategic plan for production and
logistics
.
Prepares and delivers monthly reports to
corporate
.
Ensures
facility
compliance
Safety Management (PSM), EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) rules and ISO.
Manages &
mentors
managers, supervisors, professional
staff
and production/logistic associates.
Establishes and
maintains
professional rapport with internal and external customers.
Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced,
deadline driven
environment.
Must be willing to take a hands-on approach with both tactical and strategic initiatives.




Follow all guidelines and Hempel procedures
regarding
Quality, Health and Safety and Environment.
Minimum Qualifications
:
Bachelor
degree in related field.
10 years of
directly related
experience in an industrial environment.
Chemical/coatings industry
preferred
Experience in
International trade
(distribution/
logistics
)
Programs (RMP) regulations and ISO Standards.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and planning skills, facilitation skills
, computer
skills.
E
nglish
Ability to achieve results through others.
Flexible,
analytical
and detailed oriented.
Six Sigma and/or Lean Certifications
a plus
Microsoft Office, MS Project.
