Teacher (9-12) – Math

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and presents instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.

Responsibilities

- Provide learning experiences and teach the prescribed curriculum.
- Develop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal and visual instruction of students with a wide range of capabilities.
- Offer individual and group instruction that meets individual needs and motivates students.
- Establish and maintain standards of student control required for effective participation in all activities.
- Evaluate academic and social growth of students and keep appropriate records.
- Deliver instruction and activities that meet school/district policies, goals, and objectives.
- Communicate with parents through a variety of means and hold parent conferences to discuss progress.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with other professionals to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Create an effective learning environment with functional and attractive displays such as bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and other professional growth activities.
- Collaborate with administrators to develop evaluation methods in conformance with district guidelines.
- Select and requisition instructional materials; maintain inventory records.




- Assist in school‑wide supervision of students during out‑of‑classroom activities.
- Participate in faculty and district committees and sponsor student activities.
- Perform other related work as required.

Minimum Training and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree, including all courses to meet credential requirements.
- Valid North Carolina license in the grade levels and areas assigned.

- Use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, calculators.
- Exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

- Prepare correspondence, reports, and instructional materials in prescribed format.
