The Role :
The Private Duty Nursing (PDN) Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and optimizing nursing staff schedules to ensure high-quality patient care. This role supports operational efficiency by managing staffing needs, overseeing care plan recertifications, training staff on electronic systems, and maintaining effective communication with healthcare providers, patients, and families.
The idóneo candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Scheduling & Staffing Coordination
- Develop, manage, and maintain nursing schedules based on patient care needs, staff availability, and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to last-minute call-offs, schedule changes, and staffing shortages while ensuring full patient coverage.
- Prepare and share care schedules with patients and families as needed.
- Ensure all scheduling practices comply with applicable healthcare regulations and internal policies.
- Communicate schedule updates, changes, and confirmations with staff, patients, and families.
Plan of Care (POC) Recertification
- Monitor and coordinate the recertification process for patient care plans to ensure continuity of care.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and case managers to obtain required documentation and approvals.
- Send care plan orders to physicians and relevant parties and track their completion.
- Review and maintain accurate records of returned and approved documentation.
- Generate reports to track outstanding care plan approvals and follow up to ensure timely completion.
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Training & Support
- Train new and existing staff on the use of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Monitor compliance with documentation standards and ensure timely and accurate recordkeeping.
- Provide ongoing support to staff for EMR-related questions and troubleshooting.
Documentation Oversight
- Track and report incomplete or missing clinical documentation.
- Follow up with nursing staff to ensure all records are completed accurately and on time.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for nursing staff regarding scheduling, onboarding, and compliance.
