About the Role

As our solo Product Designer, you’ll have the autonomy to define the foundational user experience for Cargo’s next chapter.

You will work across the entire lifecycle – from whiteboard sketches to production‑quality React code – owning the final mile of the design‑to‑code handoff.

The Hybrid Builder: This isn’t a traditional product design role.

You will be equally comfortable in the codebase as you are in Figma, contributing to both design and implementation.

Stewarding the System: You’ll inherit our established design system and extend it across new product surfaces, bringing clarity to complex, ambiguous problems.

What You’ll Contribute

- Design:
- Own end‑to‑end product design across Cargo’s product lines.

- Evolve and extend the design system in Figma and code.

- Shape 0‑1 product surfaces with no design precedent, keeping them cohesive with the broader experience.

- Iterate rapidly based on user feedback.

- Make opinionated UX decisions and lead the design direction.

- AI‑Native Workflow:

- Use AI as a core tool for exploration, iteration, prototyping, and learning.

- Advocate for and shape how AI transforms the design and development process.

- Leverage AI to accelerate delivery and increase fidelity.

- Code:

- Prototype in code and ship frontend React components, layouts, polish, and animations.

- Own the final‑mile quality of the product.

- Contribute to PRs and participate in code reviews.

- Craft:

- Focus on details like empty states, loading patterns, error messages, and transitions.

- Perform design QA to catch drift between intent and implementation.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

- Strong product design fundamentals: structuring complex workflows into clear, usable interfaces.

- Design discernment: documented eye for high‑quality craft and ability to articulate objective principles.

- AI‑native: daily use of AI tools for exploration and prototyping.

- Comfort with ambiguity:



energized by extending patterns or inventing new ones.

- Bias toward action: prioritize shipping and learning over prolonged debate.

- Proficiency in React and CSS: fluency to contribute to production code.

- Figma fluency: component‑centric thinking for scalable design language.

- Experience evolving an existing design system: add to a living system without breaking prior work.

- English fluency: strong professional verbal and written skills.

- Time‑zone & collaboration alignment: based in Europe or Latin America with 4+ hours overlap with North American team.

- Eye for fine details: observant and precise in final‑mile details.

- Highly accountable: end‑to‑end ownership of work.

- Appetite for scale‑up culture: self‑starter thriving in fast‑moving environments.

- Commitment to continuous growth: actively pursue new technical and creative challenges.

Bonus Points

- Experience designing for creative tools, 3D software, or technical/developer audiences.

- Familiarity with USD, DCCs (Blender, Maya, Unreal), or production pipeline workflows.

- Experience in small, fast‑moving product teams where roles blur.
