About the hosting organisation

Satellites on Fire is an Argentina-based start-up developing an AI-powered early alert platform for wildfire detection and response. Its software integrates satellite imagery updated every 5 minutes, tower-mounted cameras, weather forecasts, lightning data, and proprietary AI models to help detect fires earlier and support faster action across vulnerable territories.

The Position

You will support the project Wildfire Impact Quantification & Environmental Reporting Intern.



The role focuses on designing a methodology and first MVP to estimate wildfire impact, including burned area, CO₂ emissions, and severity proxies.

You will work with real data and help shape outputs that can support environmental reporting and client decision-making.

What You Will Work On

- Design a methodology to estimate wildfire impact using satellite and detection data
- Collect and integrate relevant datasets, including fire detections, vegetation, land use, and emission factors
- Validate estimates using historical fire cases and existing benchmarks or literature
- Collaborate with the team to align outputs with client use cases and reporting needs
- Structure results into clear, auditable metrics for environmental reporting
- Support the creation of dashboards or reports to visualise impact metrics
- Document assumptions, limitations, and improvement opportunities
