Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking a Mainframe / COBOL Developer to design, develop, and maintain reliable and high-performance mainframe applications, ensuring stability and efficiency across critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, code, test, and debug mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, and JCL
- Maintain and enhance existing mainframe systems and applications
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform performance tuning and optimization
- Collaborate with system analysts, project managers, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements
- Develop and execute unit, system, integration, and regression testing
- Ensure application reliability, scalability, and data integrity
- Maintain detailed technical documentation of code and system processes
- Support system upgrades, enhancements, and ongoing improvements
- Follow best practices in SDLC and development standards





Required Skills & Qualifications

- 4 - 6 years of experience in mainframe development
- Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and DB2
- Hands‑on experience with CICS
- Good understanding of mainframe environments and tools
- Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Familiarity with version control and development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in financial services, banking, or large enterprise systems
- Exposure to mainframe modernization initiatives
- Knowledge of batch processing and scheduling tools
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies

- Strong communication and collaboration skills
