Staff Software Engineer
for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in
Buenos Aires, Argentina
.
Our client is a general technology company specializing in self-service payment solutions and digital customer engagement for the retail petroleum industry.
It is a position within the development team responsible for the troubleshooting and resolution of critical issues found on production for the PoS Sustaining Team.
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in software development with languages such as .
NET, C#, and C++.
Experience as a senior developer with design responsibilities.
Understanding of Object Oriented Design, Database design.
Solid grasp and fluent in common design patterns.
Understanding of large codebases, Windows-based application development.
Strong knowledge of SQL or a similar database query language.
Experience in Agile and Scrum framework.
Understanding of the principles of Software architecture, including embedded platforms, IoT, and cloud.
Experience in leading the implementation of architecture with guidance from architects and experts.
Knowledge of payment systems, networking, and security architecture.
Working knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture, SaaS/Multi-tenancy.
Industry knowledge of technology and tools.
The ability to adhere to and update coding standards and create software documentation.
The ability to work without guidance on high complexity algorithms, features, and implementation of non-functional requirements.
Understanding of developing or enhancing automation frameworks for SW components, and ensuring SW design is adapted to enable automation.
Expertise in establishing code repositories and integrating with continuous build environments.
Experience in the application of best practices, tools, and solutions in the project environment.
Strong problem-solving skills, fact-based decision maker.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to articulate between business and technical language, adapting vocabulary depending on the audience.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to create order in unstructured situations.




Able to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly developing opportunities.
Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
Knowledge of best practices and how one's own area is integrated with others.
The ability to evaluate best practices, new tools, and technology to propose improvements to standard work processes and design.

Nice to have:
Experience in the retail industry, electronic payment systems, and/or Point-Of-Sale systems.
Experience in backend development.
4+ year degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience in working in such companies: VeriFone, IBM, VISA, FIRST DATA.
Companies with Lean Development and Agile Methods for Large-Scale products.
Responsibilities:
Identify the root cause of the issues reported from production sites.
Develop and test new software, and modify existing systems when required, in accordance with specifications.
Review others' design and code (peer review or team inspection).
Review SQA test cases and approaches.
Ensure on-time delivery of agreed milestones and deliverables.
Be a quick learner of the internal framework.
Participate in process improvements and contribute to support team objectives.
Effectively apply software engineering practices and enforce defined process standards.
Keep abreast of industry trends and issues.
Participate in daily interactions with members of the development team, Product Owners, Field Support, Solutions Architects, Quality Assurance, and Business Analysts.
Interact with Marketing, Service, customers, 3rd-party software vendors, service contractors, and site personnel.
Lead software development efforts for a team, possibly as a Scrum Master.
Coach team members on software solutions and processes, emphasizing quality.




Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products, services, and processes.
Solve complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
Work independently, receive minimal guidance, and lead the work of other SW engineers.
Act as a mentor for colleagues with less experience.
Lead functional teams or projects.
Provide coding solutions independently as per design guidelines.
Propose designs for modules and sub-modules for solutions, drive buy-in from the cross-functional team, and be open to change when better ideas come from Customer Labs and Field Trials.
Understand customer needs and prioritize project activities based on technical needs.
Ensure a standardized way to implement platform capabilities and design principles, and to put standard work around them.
Act as a mentor for colleagues with less experience.
Lead projects with moderate risks, resource requirements, and/or architectural and leadership complexity, with architecture and leadership oversight.
