Job Overview

This is a part‑time Non‑Tenure Track faculty position to teach in the first‑year Writing & Composition Program. Successful candidates may be assigned up to two sections of Composition II, a required Core course focused on rhetorical inquiry and research‑based writing, or Composition I, which introduces students to the writing process, rhetorical reading, and critical language awareness.

Teaching Responsibilities

Teach up to two courses per semester on either the Rose Hill (Bronx) or Lincoln Center (Manhattan) campus based on departmental need. Candidates may also be asked to teach Texts and Contexts or other Core electives on an as‑needed basis. Campus preference may be indicated in the application, but priority may be given to those willing to teach at Rose Hill.

Compensation

Per‑course rate: $7,950 (effective August 1, 2023).



Per‑course rates and employment terms are governed by the Adjunct Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and set by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Qualifications

- Terminal degree (PhD or MFA) in hand is required for new hires.
- At least one year of experience teaching first‑year writing courses at the college or university level.
- Experience teaching culturally and linguistically diverse students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student‑centered best practices such as revision, peer review, and individualized conferencing.
