Technical Sales Engineer – (Argentina)

Location: Argentina (preferably Buenos Aires or Neuquén region)
Industry: Oil & Gas / Energy Services
Employment Type: Full-time, indefinite
Travel: Up to ~50% (primarily within Argentina, occasional LATAM travel)
Compensation: USD $84,000 – $90,000 base salary (flexible depending on experience)
Start Date: Target April 2026

Their approach is long-term and service-driven. Beyond selling equipment, they provide technical support in the field and build strong relationships with customers by ensuring reliable performance and fast problem resolution.

Their customers include major oilfield service companies and operators working across Latin America.

Why This Role

Oil & gas activity in Argentina is increasing significantly, particularly in the Vaca Muerta shale formation around Neuquén , where unconventional operations and fracking activity are expanding rapidly.

To support this growth, the company is looking for a technical professional with field experience in wireline / cased-hole operations who wants to transition into a Technical Sales role .

This role is ideal for a Field Engineer, Wireline Engineer, or Operations Specialist who understands the demands of oilfield operations and enjoys working closely with customers to provide technical solutions and ongoing support.

The successful candidate will act as the local technical and commercial representative in Argentina , supporting existing clients while developing new opportunities across the region.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on Technical Sales role combining technical expertise with customer relationship management.

The position requires someone who understands cased-hole wireline operations and oilfield service environments , and who can confidently engage with field engineers, operations teams, and technical decision-makers.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact between customers, the company’s manufacturing teams, and internal technical support teams.

The role includes both business development and post-sale technical support , ensuring customers receive timely solutions and maintaining long-term commercial relationships.

Key Responsibilities





Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for Argentina and selected Latin American markets , in coordination with the Sales Manager.

Build strong relationships with oilfield service companies and operators , providing technical and commercial support.

Conduct frequent customer visits to maintain close engagement with field teams and decision-makers.

Prepare and submit Customer Contact Reports within 3 days of each visit, including:

- Meeting attendees

- Key discussion points

- Action items

- Follow-up plans

Identify and re-engage dormant customer accounts that have not purchased within the previous 6 months.

Maintain strong visibility of the sales pipeline , including potential expansion opportunities and market insights.

Develop deep knowledge of the company’s products, applications, and competitive landscape through internal training and field exposure.

Work closely with Technical Services teams to troubleshoot operational issues and ensure timely resolution of customer requests or complaints.

Manage customer requests including:

- Quotations and pricing

- Delivery schedules

- Credit terms

- Order placement in internal systems

Support commercial follow-up on outstanding receivables when necessary.

Represent the company at industry events, technical meetings, and trade association activities .

Deliver professional technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers.

Maintain accurate customer and account data , including:

- Key contacts

- Organizational structures

- Technical stakeholders

- Customer site details

Host customers when appropriate (meals, meetings, technical demonstrations) while adhering to company compliance and ethics policies.

Follow all company safety standards, procedures, and professional conduct expectations .

Required Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience in the oilfield services industry , or a combination of relevant field experience and education.

Direct experience working in cased-hole wireline / electric line operations .

Background as a:

- Wireline Field Engineer

- Wireline Engineer

- Field Specialist





- Wireline Supervisor

- Field Operations Engineer

- Similar oilfield operations role

Strong understanding of oilfield operations and field environments , including customer expectations in high-pressure operational settings.

Hands-on familiarity with wireline tools, downhole equipment, or cased-hole technologies .

Experience working with major oilfield service companies or operators .

Strong communication and presentation skills , both technical and commercial.

Ability to build trust with field personnel, engineers, and senior technical stakeholders .

Comfortable working in a customer-facing role with frequent travel .

Ability to travel without restrictions within Argentina and internationally if needed .

Must be based in Argentina .

Preferred Experience

Experience working for or closely with major oilfield service companies such as:

- SLB (Schlumberger)

- Halliburton

- Baker Hughes

- Weatherford

- NOV

- Expro

- Archer

- Other oilfield service providers

Experience supporting unconventional operations and fracking environments , particularly in Vaca Muerta.

Previous experience in technical sales, account management, or customer-facing technical roles .

Experience supporting multinational clients operating in Argentina .

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred.

Languages

Spanish – native or fluent
English – professional working proficiency required

Travel Requirements

The role requires up to approximately 50% travel , including:

- Frequent customer visits within Argentina

- Regular travel to the Neuquén / Patagonia region

- Occasional travel within Latin America

Within the first year, success will include:

- Building strong relationships with key oilfield service customers

- Providing reliable technical support and follow-up

- Reactivating dormant accounts and expanding existing customer relationships

- Maintaining accurate reporting and pipeline visibility

- Helping grow the company’s presence in Argentina’s oil & gas market

Interview Process

The process is expected to include two stages :

- Initial interview (virtual)

- Final interview (may include in-person meeting in Argentina / Neuquén region)

Interviews will involve Sales leadership for Latin America and HR stakeholders .
