Your MissionWe are seeking a talented Senior Cloud Engineer to join our growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) team.
The right candidate is someone who has deep expertise building a variety of cloud solutions and is passionate about working with our customers, partners, and employees to drive the business forward.
Your mission will be to work alongside Caylent's Architects and Delivery Managers to deliver AWS cloud solutions across our diverse and innovative customer base.Your AssignmentEvaluate libraries, tools, and services for suitabilityOwn the implementation of stories and other engineering of advanced cloud work for clientsPerform research and documentation for problems and potential solutionsUse various frameworks and methodologies to fully qualify problems, pain points, and potential jeopardiesBuild on Cloud Native patterns, IoT back-ends, serverless architectures, and highly automated work patterns and delivery methodsAugment and design support systems and response procedures and coordinate hand-off to Cloud Operations (CloudOps) Support EngineersHands-on involvement in the development of projects.
Enforces standards, procedures, and methodologies for the software development life cycle.Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detailParticipate in cross-functional implementation teams to deliver solutions to clientsShare knowledge and skills with other Caylent team members and client teamsWrite blog posts, do talks at community events, help achieve additional certifications in the AWS Partner Community, help clients solve problemsOccasional travel may be required to meet stakeholders, kick off new projects, attend conferences, and company functionsOther duties as assignedObservability and MonitoringDesign, implement,
and build scalable architectures leveraging AWS services with emphasis on reliability, security, and cost efficiencyBuild and maintain observability solutions using AWS native tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray, Config) and partner tools (Datadog, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry) for APM, infrastructure monitoring, logging, and tracingWork with 24x7 response team and operations leadership to establish metrics, data, and logs to monitor applications or workloadsEstablish runbooks and automation within the observability frameworkCollaborate with CloudOps to reduce noise and address root causesPartner with DevOps and security teams to embed resilience, security, and cost-optimization featuresLearn, coach, and share knowledge with other team membersPrepare work for team members of varying levels, defining stories and task-type workContribute to internal IP and open source developmentParticipate in delivery efforts using Agile or other methodologiesBuild relationships with vendors and partnersEngage with clients including presentations, technical decisions, and education opportunitiesStay up to date on AWS best practices and capabilitiesBe a technical team advocate, ensuring clear direction and efficient executionPerform code reviews, provide feedback, and pair when beneficialIdentify opportunities to better support clientsWrite blog posts, give talks, and help with AWS certificationsOccasional travel may be required to meet stakeholders, kick off new projects, attend conferences, and company functionsOther duties as assignedYour QualificationsBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 2 years of general IT experience (programming, hardware, software, etc); or 4 years of general IT experience3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services1+ year code-defined infrastructure experience1+ year CI/CD experience3+ years of programming experience utilizing Python, Node.js, Typescript, Go, Java, C, or other similar languagesExperience with Agile project management or other methodologiesPreferred QualificationsAWS Cloud Architect Associate, SysOps Associate, Developer Associate,
