The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading and executing mechanical engineering activities during the project phase. The role ensures technical consistency, correct material selection, manufacturing follow-up, and compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards. The position combines technical leadership with direct engineering execution when required by workload or resource availability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Engineering & Technical Leadership

- Design, verify, and validate mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with project requirements and engineering orders.
- Defineestablish, and recommend mechanical specifications for equipment components (materials, dimensions, corrosion allowances, coatings, pressure ratings, etc.).
- Prepare and maintain the list of engineering documents required for manufacturing and client delivery.




- Draft technical specifications and conditions for subcontracted works or supplies.

Manufacturing & Suppliers

- Oversee and control the manufacturing of mechanical components in external workshops (local and remote).
- Monitor manufacturing progress, delivery deadlines, and deviations.
- Correct technical issues during fabrication and propose feasible engineering solutions.
- Coordinate technical visits and inspections at suppliers' facilities when required.
- Manage the availability of materials for manufacturing in coordination with Procurement.

Procurement & Cost Control

- Size, calculate, and manage the procurement of mechanical materials and equipment.
- Perform pre-costing and post-costing analysis of equipment and projects.
- Approve certificates and invoices related to third-party mechanical services or supplies under their responsibility.

Team & Cross-functional Support

- Supervise and technically support mechanical designers and external drafting resources.
- Provide technical support to plant teams during assembly and installation, under the Plant Manager's supervision.
- Address technical inquiries related to mechanical engineering from internal teams, suppliers, and clients.
- Provide technical support to the Service Department when required.

Quality, Safety & Environment

- Comply with the Quality, Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental standards communicated to them and promote them among their peers.
- Knowledge of waste segregation and the matrix of environmental aspects and impacts applicable to the office, canteen, plant, membrane washing and special waste deposit sector, of safety and hygiene standards and prevention measures, policies,



instructions, procedures and records applicable to the area, integrated quality and environmental policy, among others.

Job Requirements

- Mechanical Engineer or equivalent.
- English: Intermediate/Advanced (required). Portuguese: Preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Mechanical design of industrial equipment.
- Piping systems, hydraulics, and fluid mechanics.
- Structural components and supports.
- Materials selection and corrosion basics.
- Interpretation of codes, standards, and specifications.
- Experience with manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Experience: minimum 3–5 years in a similar role.
- Availability to travel: Yes
