About the Role
We're looking for a Cinematic Director to collaborate with our creative team on high-energy brand video content.
We bring the ideas and scripts—you bring the expertise to make them visually stunning and perfectly paced.
While we create cinematic AI-generated videos, you don't need AI experience to start.
We'll teach you our AI workflows as you work with us.
Your job is to bring traditional filmmaking expertise while learning cutting-edge AI video tools that will supercharge your creative output.
Engagement & Location
Part-time freelance, project-based.
Remote, but must be available to work and communicate during EST (Eastern Standard Time) business hours.
What You'll Do
Advise on Shot Lists
:
Review our shot lists and provide expert input on what will work, what won't, and what's missing.
Design Shot Sequences
: Determine the best shots to use and specify exactly what should happen in each frame to create seamless transitions.
Build Visual Flow
: Ensure shots connect and build tempo—guiding how each moment transitions to the next.
Provide Technical Direction
: Specify camera angles, movements, framing, timing, and action needed for each shot.
Elevate the Vision
: Take our creative concepts and level them up with your cinematic expertise.
Learn AI Workflows
: Train you on our AI video generation processes so you can eventually create and direct AI content independently.
Collaborate Iteratively
: Work closely with our team through the process, from pre-production planning to final shot selection.
The Workflow
We provide
: Initial concept, script, and rough shot list.
You refine
: Review and advise on the shot list—what to add, remove, or change.
You design
: Break down each shot with specific direction on what needs to happen.
You guide transitions
: Map out how shots flow together to build energy and tempo.
You select
: Help choose the best takes and guide the edit for maximum impact.
You learn
: We teach you our AI video tools and techniques along the way.
What We're Looking For
EST Timezone overlap
: Must be available for real-time collaboration during EST business hours.
Strong cinematography foundation
: Deep understanding of what makes shots work—composition, lighting, movement, pacing.
Shot-by-shot thinking
: Can visualize and articulate exactly what needs to happen in each frame.
Transition mastery
: Know how to connect shots so they flow seamlessly and build momentum.
Technical communication
: Can clearly specify camera work, action, timing, and composition.
Tempo & pacing
:
Understand how to build energy through shot selection and sequencing.
Commercial aesthetic
: Experience with premium brand content (Nike, athletic brands, lifestyle).
Responsive communication
: Quick turnaround times and availability for feedback sessions.
Curiosity about AI
: No AI experience required, but you should be excited to learn.
Bonus Points
Experience as a DP or editor (understanding multiple roles).
Can storyboard or create shot references.
Understanding of what works on social platforms.
Experience working with lean, efficient production teams.
Any exposure to AI tools (even if just experimenting).
Your Portfolio Should Include
Commercial/brand work showing strong cinematography.
Examples demonstrating your ability to build tempo and energy.
Shot lists, storyboards, or pre-production materials (if available).
Before/after examples showing your creative input.
Note
: No AI work required—we care about your filmmaking eye.
