OverviewJob Description / Purpose Within Canada, and Argentina Shales project organization, the MMI Engineering Lead is responsible for supporting the various concurrent green field and brownfield project activities across the Mechanical & Quality disciplines.
This role will lead MMI activities that are primarily focused on material selection, corrosion, pressure piping, static equipment such as tanks & vessels, and pipelines.
Operations support over these assets will be a component of the role.AccountabilitiesThe MMI Engineering Lead's prime focus will be to provide safe, pragmatic technical guidance and assurance to projects and provide needed operations support.
Actively supporting multi discipline scope deliveries within the Project delivery team, front end project development.
This includes technical and lean scoping leadership as well as TA2 assurance to Engineering Contractor organization to ensure engineering is fit-for purpose, compliant to Shell standards and Shales portfolio requirement specification (PRS) requirements.
Besides maintaining the MMI aspects to the PRS (including design philosophies), MMI Engineer is also expected to get involved into range of activities i.e. factory inspections, field inspections, design reviews, MOCs, equipment verification in contractor shops.
Based on scope, he/she also get involved in plant changes, maintenance advice and on demand incident investigation which provide important lessons learned to optimize the P&T; delivery scopes.
He/she will closely work together with e.g. Project managers, project & facility engineers, process engineers and other discipline engineers to ensure all aspect of scope is covered.Dimensions: Canadian (Alberta Light tight oil (ABLTO), Groundbirch (GB)) and Argentina Assets are key to Shell's Shales resource growth.
Current Capital spend for Shales Asset is ~$2B and for surface facilities it is ~$350M with potential for increase over next couple years.
MMI Engineering and assurance is intended to improve Shales facilities production targets, up-time and margin.
MMI Engineer Lead contributes to cost efficient execution of capital projects allowing for expected reliability, efficient maintenance and sustainability of margin.RequirementsYou have strong interpersonal and influencing skills to work effectively in/and across multi-functional teams and interface with a wide range of internal stakeholders, customers and service providers.

Effective stakeholder management is essential to identify and understand (business) requirements and translate these into delivering innovative and sustainable value solutions.Minimum of bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent.
Professional Engineering registration (e.g. APEGA, Texas P.E.) is preferred.Minimum Technical Authority Level - Mechanical TA2 with vast Mechanical scope delivery experience through DCAF.Minimum 15+ years' experience in Oil & Gas industry with at least 5 years in projects (FEED, Detailed engineering and execute phases) and the majority of experience in Upstream business.
Exposure to Shales PRS, design philosophies,
and Project execution is highly preferred.Knowledge/Skill level competence on Rotating Equipment Engineering will be an added advantage.Experience with CAPEX Cost estimating processes is preferred.Good listening, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, good team working skills in multi-cultural environment.Demonstrated ability to manage engineering contractor counterparts in cost Reimbursable contracting environment including: Holding Contractor accountable for sound discipline specific requirements; Effectively cooperating to meet project safety, quality, schedule and cost targets; and, challenge delay due to interference with contractor's work and/or not meeting Contractor response cycle times.Knowledge of the HSE regulations, national & international standards, ASME, CSA, along with quality processes.Able to cope under pressure and proven personal drive to deliver according agreed deadlines.
Having strong written / verbal communications is a must.Maintains good work relationships and ensures cooperation between all parties involved, champion change and overcome resistance.Able to deliver within defined scope, timing and budget.Able to work with constantly changing priorities (MoC, Projects, new initiatives).
Knowledge of working according LEAN approach with good ability to weigh cost vs benefit (risk based) design approach to preserve the competitive scope.Ability to think "out of the box" and come up with innovative solutions focusing on continuous technical improvement.Some travel to field locations required
